Join us for a creative day with Tabara of La Basketry and create a beautiful and useful basket bag unique to your style.
Tabara will teach your small group the intricacies of weaving a basket bag using centre cane - one of the most popular basketry techniques and materials in the world. Using methods learnt in her native Senegal she’ll encourage you to get your hands dirty - quite literally as the workshop will involve soaking, bending and reshaping the cane.
You will leave the workshop with:
Your unique basket bag
In-depth knowledge of center cane basket weaving
A joy for making!
A delicious seasonal vegetarian lunch will be served
ABOUT TABARA
Tabara N'Diaye is the co-founder of La Basketry, a homeware brand offering baskets and home accessories designed in collaboration with a group of female artisans in her native Senegal. Since launching in 2017, her range of products has been featured in some of the UK's best publications and has also been stocked at the world-renowned Victoria & Albert Museum.
A basketmaker herself, her first book ‘Baskets’ was published in Spring 2019 shining a light on one of the world's most ancient crafts with basketry techniques and modern creations that will inspire you.
